The cockpit represents the leadership of your company. This can be a single person such as a solopreneur, or a team of leaders that make up a c-suite. The leadership should know where they want the business to grow and reverse engineer its successful arrival.
The wings of the airplane represent the products and services you sell. These products should be in demand and profitable. If the products you sell are in demand and profitable, the business can get lift.
The right engine of the airplane represents your marketing. Your marketing should increase the demand for your products in the marketplace and thus provide thrust moving the business forward.
Some businesses also have a salesperson or sales team. Your sales team is represented by the left engine of your airplane. It is designed to increase the thrust of the airplane and generate even more lift.
The body of your airplane represents your overhead. Your overhead should be kept lean in order to decrease the weight of the airplane and make it easier to get and stay off the ground.
The final section of your airplane is the fuel tank. The fuel tank represents cash flow. If the business runs out of cash, it will crash.
If the parts of your business are not designed correctly the business will not take off, or worse, will take off and then crash.
